Are you the “sickest” healthy person you know?
My beautiful and soulful friend, Jaimie, said something so simple and profound in our discussion about cleanses and colonics and healing and , and, and… She simply posed the question “why do we keep treating the well body as if it’s not?”
Of course there are plenty of sick and disregulated people. And, of course, we ALL have imbalances that need some adjustment. But, those of us who are eating our “real foods, not too much, mostly plants” are healthy and living and should just let the body be with the occasional supportive lifestyle and nutritional therapies. It seems funny to me that the most healthy minded people are the ones constantly trying to “fix” themselves. This just sends messages to the body that it is unwell which may actually cause more imbalances then if we just left the body alone. I understand the drive to feel the most utterly high on life you can, but there are just going to be some days that the body is a bit less thriving; it’s just how we live now. We cleanse, we colonic, we rinse and repeat. Do we ever stop to think that constantly stripping the body down is depleting us of the very thing we are striving for? I mean cleansing our already pretty kale laden colons once a month is a bit draining (haha) considering the mental preparation, the ritual itself and the obsession that occupies valuable time. And, a juice cleanse- serious commitment. I do, however, believe that cleansing has its time and place.
Now, those who know me have passed out in reading this worried that aliens have taken over my brain. But, I ponder this so deeply because I live it- and, quite frankly love it, and am a bit obsessive so I know. But, as we all talk about how the body’s natural state is to heal itself, we are still playing doctor to a patient who holds the ultimate degree. So, to all of my fellow raw, real, juiced up, gone green, sprouted, pastured and pickled pals…
Why don’t we just “let go (a bit), and let God”- whoever she is.
